CIRIA team recognised as ICE Resilience Champions

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has recognised CIRIA team members Dr Andy Moores, Dr Louise Walker and Adrien Baudrimont for their work on CIRIA’s Benefits Estimation Tool (ciriabest). Our team was part of 31 individuals recognised this year for demonstrating projects that are helping to build an inclusive, resilient and sustainable world.

ciriabest is an online application that  helps to demonstrate the added value that different approaches to traditional grey infrastructure solutions can offer. It aims to make assessing the benefits of blue-green infrastructure quicker and easier, enabling project teams to make robust business cases that give decision makers confidence in the value of projects to society, the environment and the economy.

On receiving this recognition Andy Moores, Director of Research, CIRIA commented “I am delighted to win this ICE Resilience Champions award - which represents a real team effort from CIRIA over many years. This tool which has been developed in collaboration with a range of partners has evolved from an offline spreadsheet into a slick, usable app which allows the estimation and interpretation of the multiple benefits of blue green infrastructure interventions. We hope that tool can play a part in legitimising and normalising what are often considered alternative blue green solutions to the challenges our built environment faces from climate change.”
