Geotechnical baseline reports - a guide to good practice

Geotechnical baseline reports (GBRs) provide a mechanism for developing equitable contracting arrangements between clients and contractor when dealing with the uncertainty in ground conditions encountered during the delivery of capital projects.

CIRIA, alongside international experts from Mott MacDonald and Geotechnical Consulting Group, has developed a guide to producing GBRs (C807).

This event outlined the context and need for GBRs and why and how CIRIA has worked to develop this guidance. The author team outlined the principal features of the guide, drawing upon their extensive international experience. Case studies to illustrating how and why GBRs are useful were provided.
