Net zero carbon in construction

The built environment generates 30% of total greenhouse gas emissions and construction uses 32% of the world's natural resources. As the biggest contributor to climate change, the construction industry has the greatest opportunity and responsibility to reduce emissions.

This webinar, hosted by Buildoffsite and CIRIA’s Driving Net Zero Carbon Community of Practice, explored how the sector is innovating to achieve net zero carbon and how offsite can deliver ESG targets and improve the sustainability of the built environment.

Attendees heard first-hand from the authors of Buildoffsite’s new guidance ‘Achieving sustainable resilience in new precast concrete structures’, learned about The Forge (the UK's first net zero carbon commercial development) and discovered tools to measure carbon emissions in the supply chain.

Buildoffsite is the voice of the offsite construction industry. For more information about membership, please contact Dirk Vennix.

Achieving Net Zero Carbon (NZC) in the construction sector is a significant challenge and one which requires collectively exploring the issues and collaborating to find solutions. To facilitate this, CIRIA has launched a new Community of Practice: Driving Net Zero Carbon which brings together sustainability practitioners from across multiple sectors and disciplines within infrastructure to help the Government drive the pathways to NZC 2050.
