Reducing scope 3 carbon in the supply chain

Achieving Net Zero Carbon (NZC) in the construction sector is a significant challenge and one which requires collectively exploring the issues and collaborating to find solutions. To facilitate this, CIRIA has launched a new Community of Practice: Driving Net Zero Carbon. This new CIRIA initiative brings together sustainability practitioners from across multiple sectors and disciplines within infrastructure to help the Government drive the pathways to NZC 2050.

Embedding responsibility for scope 3 emissions in supply chains
Greenhouse gas emissions are categorised in three groups or scopes. Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions that occur in a company’s supply chain ie purchased goods and services, transportation and distribution, and waste disposal.

This webinar examined how Scope 3 emissions could be more effectively accounted for within complex supply chains. Clients and Tier 1 contractors have challenging carbon targets which rely on a significant contribution from their suppliers. Industry experts explored how responsibility for reduction in Scope 3 emissions down supply chains could be achieved.

Contributions for this webinar were provided by infrastructure clients, T1 contractors and major consultancies, SME contractors, specialist suppliers and procurement experts working for or within government.
