Cast in-situ concrete – new CIRIA guidance

Eliminating defects within the construction industry has been a key objective for many years. Defects cost the industry millions of pounds in rework through lost time and materials, causing slippage to programmes and delaying the benefits the projects will deliver. CIRIA has been proactive in this area, running the Towards Zero Defects Toolkit initiative to identify the sources of defect and address them.

Cast in-situ concrete. A model for error reduction (C814) guidance is the result of a two-part CIRIA commissioned study to identify the main causes of errors in this sector. Useful Projects carried out the first part in 2019 developing a behavioural model using process maps for error reduction. Building on this previous CIRIA work, this guide describes the model, how it should be applied and provides practical examples of its use. It is intended to support those working to improve quality and reduce the number of defects during in-situ concrete work.

Attendees to this webinar will discover how significant reductions in errors and a consequential reduction in costs can be achieved through the application of a systematic eight-step process and the implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs).
