Trees, People and the Built Environment 5
Working together for a resilient urban future
23-24 April 2024
Hybrid | Birmingham | Online
We're partnering with the
Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) for the
fifth Trees, People and the Built Environment conference (TPBE5). CIRIA members are entitled to a
20% discount on the two-day conference fee.
Bringing together professionals working in the built and natural environment sectors to support the integration of more urban trees, the conference plans to examine two very different roles for trees:
- how they can improve the quality of place for both people and nature and
- how they can contribute to the net zero carbon ambition for buildings and the built environment.
CIRIA is contributing to the conference by addressing the issue of how we manage trees as an important part of our infrastructure and demonstrate their value. Our
session, chaired by
Dirk Vennix, Chief Executive of CIRIA, will showcase practical examples and highlight CIRIA's research on
blue-green infrastructure (BGI) asset management. This includes insights on tree protection, planting, maintenance, and utility collaboration.
The presentation will feature a demonstration of the ciriabest tool, with speakers Malcolm Yull, Landscape Architect Associate Director at Stantec, discussing findings from an asset management BGI feasibility study and Adrien Baudrimont, Senior Research Manager at CIRIA, covering biodiversity challenges and legacy guidance.
