RECONMATIC Open Day – Shaping the future of zero waste construction

Join the RECONMATIC partners – including CIRIA members Morgan Sindall Construction and University of Salford – at a hybrid Open Day to discuss about digital solutions for sustainable and circular construction and demolition waste management on 7 May 2024 in Manchester. Local communities, students, businesses and local and national authority departments are invited to participate – reserve your free place today.

The Open Day, supported by CIRIA, will feature presentations, interactive workshops and case studies on digital solutions for construction and demolition waste management. Parallel workshops will include digital twins, digital information management systems, waste datasets and e-waste. RECONMATIC partners will present their solutions in development and guest speakers will discuss other solutions highlighting the range of digital tools that are in (or ready for) the market to support circularity in construction.

Dr Juan Ferriz-Papi, Lecturer in Building Surveying at University of Salford, will also present an update on the RECONMATIC project at the joint CIRIA/BOS webinar on Assets decarbonisation through reuse of key materials on 14 May 2024.

RECONMATIC is a watershed four-year research project on increasing sustainability in waste management across the built environment. It will explore automated solutions for sustainable construction and demolition waste (CDW) management. The RECONMATIC consortium of 23 partners from seven countries were specifically chosen to cover the whole value chain for demonstrating innovative solutions in lifecycle construction and demolition waste management.

RECONMATIC will deliver six demonstration case studies carried out in five different European countries piloting developed technologies on real building and infrastructure projects covering different stages of the lifecycle as well as the common practice at recycling plants. The UK partners’ aim is harnessing innovation through digital construction and building information modelling (BIM) to develop methods that will help to better identify and minimise waste during the entire lifecycle of a building.
