Siphons in dams – new CIRIA guidance

Join this webinar to celebrate the launch of new CIRIA guidance 'Siphons in dams – design, installation, operation, management and testing (C813)'.

Background
Effective management of reservoirs in the UK is key to maintaining sustainable supply of water for homes, industry, agriculture and hydro-electric power generation, as well as for protection against flooding. To prevent or minimise risk of failure within dam systems, it is necessary to be able to drawdown the reservoir level in the event of an emergency. With climate change increasing the frequency and intensity of storm events and heavy rainfall, there is a demand for available drawdown capacities from dam systems to be increased, and for the industry to move away from temporary arrangements. Siphons provide a means to both increase drawdown capacity as well as introduce a permanent system removing the reliance on temporary arrangements such as pumps.

New CIRIA guidance Siphons in dams – design, installation, operation, management and testing (C813), explores the design and installation of retrofitted siphons at reservoirs. The guide also covers the operation, maintenance, inspection and testing of siphons which can be applied to existing facilities.

This webinar will provide insight into this new guidance. Hear from key representatives from UK water utilities, consultancies and the authors of the guide, who will showcase the importance and relevance of the guide in today’s industry.

Special offer
All attendees will qualify from a 20% discount off Siphons in dams – design, installation, operation, management and testing (C813) for a limited period. The promotional code will be communicated with the joining instructions pre-event.
