Supporting local authorities in managing asbestos in soil
This webinar for LACL members will address the main concerns and challenges posed by asbestos in soil that local authorities are grappling with, and identify areas where more research and clarity is needed.

Background
Asbestos in soil remains a problem in many sites across the UK. In recent years more research has been carried out resulting in newer
guidance
publications, however confusion remains regarding the application of good practice when assessing and managing asbestos risk in contaminated land projects. This affects local authorities who are the primary regulators for contaminated land projects.
During the webinar, our speakers will explore some of the challenges stemming from asbestos in soil, such as difficulties reviewing results from asbestos risk analysis, whilst demonstrating how local authorities currently apply existing guidance. They will identify areas where more research and clarity is needed.
