Part 4: Metals contamination
Land contamination is an issue affecting the UK and China alike. Having experienced a decade of meteoric growth in GDP, China has seen an increase in demand for land for development. Like the UK, China has a legacy of land contamination resulting from industrial and commercial activities. Nowadays, many developers in China are seeking to deploy cost-effective and sustainable practice following stricter legislation and increased awareness of environmental issues.
Heavy metals contamination is not only a widespread environmental problem, it also constitutes a public health hazard. Residual metals from previous industrial processes contaminate soil and seep into water supplies. New and innovative remediation technologies have been developed to treat this source of contamination, which is common in China and the UK.
This webinar will explore how heavy metals contamination is managed in both countries, highlighting the difference in approaches. Contaminated land experts will share experiences and good practice.
