CIRIA’s long standing expertise in research management and the production of industry guidance has resulted in a reputation for high quality, authoritative and widely used reports.

Our good practice guidance covers both the principles of sustainable whole-life infrastructure asset design and management, and technical guidance on the management of key assets such as bridges, tunnels, embankments, dams, culverts and reservoirs. From asset monitoring to inspection and maintenance, CIRIA works with industry stakeholder communities and their supply chains in identifying and managing infrastructure asset vulnerability and in the delivery of new infrastructure.

Projects underway

Application of Eurocode 7 to the design of flood embankments
Eurocode 7 is the EU standard for the design of geotechnical structures. Its use in public sector works became mandatory in EU member states in 2010 and it has been implemented in varying ways by member states.

Construction Innovation Alliance
Formed in 2019, this community of practice of infrastructure clients and Tier 1 suppliers has been sharing knowledge, experiences and approaches through baselining surveys, discussion workshops and information papers.

Responding to the lessons learnt from flooding
The aim of this project is to provide guidance on how to implement the recommendations contained in the published reports and from other lessons learned.
