Introducing the Soil Community of Practice (CoP) for
construction soil management
CIRIA is pleased to announce the launch of the new Soils Community of Practice (CoP) for construction soil management.
Soils are a critical component of healthy, functioning ecosystems, playing a vital role in agriculture, water quality, flood risk management, biodiversity, and carbon storage. The UK Government’s 25 year Environment Plan requires us to protect, enhance, and restore soils.
However, in construction, surplus soils can easily become a waste and navigating the myriad of waste regulations and guidance to deliver the best outcome for surplus soils can be challenging.
The Soils CoP, supported by Arcadis, Harworth Group, Kier, MoD, National Highways, Network Rail, NDA and and Wills Bros, aims to encourage industry dialogue to share good practice in finding better ways of valuing and managing soils in construction projects.
If you would like to get involved in the Soils CoP, contact Joanne Kwan
