A large housebuilder pays for illegal waste activity

Bellway Home imported c2688 m3 of waste soil – containing wood, metal, wire cables, rubber, plastic and vehicle tyres onto its St Mary’s Park housing development site near Stannington, The waste was imported directly from another nearby development site, which according to an article by ITV, was without any authorisation and Bellway said was on the advice of its consultants . The company has submitted an Enforcement Undertaking to the Environment Agency which include Homes will pay £50k to Northumberland Wildlife Trust, £30k to Wear Rivers Trust and £20k to Tyne Rivers Trust.
