Retrofitting hazardous ground gas protection measures for developments (1077)
Hazardous ground gases can cause serious problems for construction developments, particularly existing buildings. With an average life of more than 100 years for residential developments in this country, many may not have gas protective measures in place. Even if they have, with increasing rainfall and severe weather events becoming more frequent, it can affect the effectiveness of the existing gas mitigation.
This project will explain the problems with retrofitting gas measures for developments (residential, commercial and industrial), the available options and provide good practice about how to deal with the issue.
CIRIA has appointed Buro Happold Engineering as the research contractor for this project.
