Repurposing buildings (RP1137)

Developers and owners often require buildings to be upgraded, extended or repurposed,  maximising floorspace within constrained programme and cost. Key factors affecting these include: whether parts of the building remain occupied; knowledge of the building structure, risk mitigation, logistics and selection of the construction  strengthening technique. This project is in two phases. Phase 1 would produce an overview guide setting out key steps and decision support for these areas, along with a review of existing guidance. Phase 2 would address any specific shortfalls in guidance identified in Phase 1.
