Property level SuDS (P3298)

As continued urban expansion and the building of new homes in the UK and around the world leads to more impermeable surfaces, it is crucial that effective water management techniques are implemented to negate the additional pressures this puts on traditional drainage systems. Areas in the immediate vicinity of private properties (eg residential gardens, patios, driveways) provide a key opportunity to manage rainwater at source and reduce the water-related risks exacerbated by climate change (flooding, drought, water pollution etc).

This project will develop a guidance document presenting why and how sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) can be incorporated within curtilage to manage rainwater at source. It will be of use to those making decisions in the design, construction and maintenance of residential properties.
