Sea outfalls present challenges in terms of asset management by virtue of their location. Deterioration or damage can go unnoticed for many years and, without appropriate inspection and maintenance can result in pollution and the consequent financial and reputational impact on the operating authority.
While there is guidance on the design, construction and operation of outfalls, there is little information specifically focused on asset management of such structures.
This project will produce an operators guide on the need for and the procurement or execution of survey and inspection activities together with associated repair and modifications.
Status
Proposal developed and fundraising now underway.
