eTraining for hazardous ground gas (P3190)

Hazardous ground gases are a major problem for many brownfield sites.  With the government committed to develop more brownfield sites to meet the annual 300,000 house building target, the problem is getting worst, e.g. ingress of CO2 in Gorebridge has resulted in over over 60 houses being demolished.  

There are over 25 documents published by BRE, BSI, CIRIA, CL:AIRE etc. There are also numerous face-to-face training courses delivered by a number of organisations, however these are not very accessible to people living in remote places and there are also few places where delegates can get help after attending training.

Recent consultation carried out by CIRIA revealed this partly lead to inadequate awareness and knowledge among some ‘general’ construction professionals e.g. tradesmen, main contractors, designers, clients, etc. who often got inaccurate information from commercial web sites.

Project objectives
The course will look to help different construction professionals:
Understand the ‘right’ way to assess and manage risk related to sites with hazardous  ground gases Keep up to date with the latest development on the subject Reduce delays in projects with ground gas problems, their liabilities and prosecutions thereby making brownfield site more profitable
Gain support if they are unable to attend training or after they have attended the face-to-face training 
Encourage CPD for busy professionals
