Coming soon: Suds for Highways - new build & retrofit CPD training
Excited to announce the launch of a new one-day training course Suds for Highways – new build & retrofit developed to complement the recently published National standards for sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) in England (and the established standards in Wales). The new training builds upon the CIRIA SuDS Manual (C753) as well as the Greater London Authority guide Reimagining Rainwater in Highways (2025).
Designed to address the growing need for resilient, high-performing drainage in the highway environment, this new training will equip practitioners with the confidence to design SuDS for both new build and retrofit highways and similar areas. Delegates on this course will explore integrated design approaches; water-quality risk assessment; infiltration considerations; detailing for robustness and durability; and practical solutions to common highway-specific challenges.
With SuDS playing an increasingly vital role in climate resilience, water-quality improvement and placemaking, this course provides timely, practical knowledge for all those involved in delivering sustainable drainage within the highways sector.
Steve Wilson, Technical Director, EPG Ltd and CIRIA trainer said “SuDS on highways require specialised consideration for both retrofit and new-build schemes, regardless of road classification. Robust water-quality risk assessment remains fundamental to highway SuDS design, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, and within the practitioner’s technical competence. The EPG team of trainers have proven experience as both designers and contractors, supported by a comprehensive understanding of green and proprietary systems.”
