Dealing with contaminants in brownfield sites

CIRIA is delighted to announce a virtual conference Dealing with persistent and emerging land contaminants to be hosted on 24 November 2021.

As the UK has over 30 years’ experience in tackling contaminants in soil and groundwater, this virtual event will convene contaminated land experts to share their knowledge in current regulations and practices in risk management for both persistent and emerging contaminants.

Sponsored by JUTA UK Ltd, join us to hear practical solutions first-hand from regulators on how contaminants should be managed whilst avoiding the potential adverse human and ecological impacts. Delegates will also gain insight into how the changing climate is affecting brownfield sites and the way industry deals with contaminants.

Jim Wharfe, Independent Consultant and Session Chair commented “Despite many pieces of legislation concerning the risks associated with contaminants in our environment, both historic and emerging chemicals continue to be an issue. Our expertise in traditional skills such as environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology is now supported by the newer genomic sciences and data technologies that underpin monitoring strategies and risk assessment capability. This CIRIA event provides a timely update on a number of key issues of concern.”
