New guidance for Geotechnical baseline reports coming soon

CIRIA are pleased to announce the launch of its latest publication, Geotechnical baseline reports: a guide to good practice (C807). This new guide aims to assist in developing equitable contract terms between client and consultant/contractor across a range of procurement scenarios and infrastructure types, with a view that the Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBR) provides a common understanding of what is known and, indeed, not known at various stages of the contract lifecycle.
Randall Essex, former Executive Vice President, Director of Tunnelling, Mott MacDonald and author of C807, stated, “This guidance addresses improved management of commercial risk on subsurface projects by including a Geotechnical Baseline Report (GBR) in the Contract. A GBR is used in concert with other Contract provisions to help price the work at tender and evaluate commercial disputes during construction. The document addresses how to best inform and write a GBR, based on lessons learned from international and UK experience.”
