New guidance focusing on Abandoned mine workings

CIRIA is proud to announce the the hotly anticipated guidance Abandoned mine workings manual (C758D) will be available from mid September. The new guide is the result of considerable consultation with industry experts and gives a risk-based, non-prescriptive approach to mitigation and remediation of mining legacy issues.

To address these issues, the new manual is divided into three parts:
Part 1 Historical background and context.
Part 2 Residual impacts of past mining.
Part 3 Land management and construction in mining areas.

This guidance will be an essential point of reference for those involved with mining legacy issues in the existing built environment, and with the design and
construction of new build developments and infrastructure. The guide is aimed at regulators, planning authorities, developers, consultants, contractors, asset owners and operators and replaces CIRIA's Construction over abandoned mine workings (SP32) published in 1984.

Pre-order a copy of the new guide - offer ends 16 September 2019.

We are also thrilled to announce a launch event for this guide on 29 October at the National Coal Mining for England to be hosted by AECOM. Places will be limited, so do sign up now.
