Call for entries: BIG Biodiversity Challenge is open

CIRIA is pleased to announce that the BIG Biodiversity Challenge was officially launched at a webinar on 29 March, sponsored by Marshalls.

Since 2013 the Challenge, led by CIRIA’s BIG Biodiversity Interest Group, has invited the construction industry to add biodiversity enhancements to construction sites, developments or existing buildings, regardless of size, and whether permanent or temporary with the best enhancements gaining recognition at an awards ceremony. With 750+ project case studies received to date the Challenge is continuing to gain recognition.

The event brought together clients, consultants, contractors, house builders, ecologists, landscape architects as well as some of our 2021 award winners who outlined their winning projects, highlighting how any biodiversity enhancement can make a BIG difference.

Getting involved in the Challenge and Awards is easy. Simply submit your entry, support the available sponsorship packages and join us on social media @bigbiodiversity using the hashtags #BIGChallenge, #BIGAwards and #DoOneThing. From 2022, the Challenge and Awards will be overseen by CIRIA’s newly created Biodiversity Community of Practice – comprised of a growing network of industry experts from clients, contractors and consultants, engaged with biodiversity developments, achievements in the industry, government initiatives and more.

With eight award categories to choose from, there is plenty of scope to get involved in this year’s FREE to enter the competition.
