The purpose of this briefing is to set out some of the main issues that are slowly changing property market perceptions. The relationship between the property markets response to the sustainability agenda and market forces are not particularly strong, and the commercial drivers to create a low carbon built environment are weak. Following the Great Recession of 2008, it is perhaps not surprising that many investors and occupiers are far more concerned about financial survival in the short-term, rather than the long-term sustainability agenda.
