Regulation 10 of CAR2012 stated that ‘Every employer must ensure that any employee is given adequate information, instruction and training where that employee is liable to exposure of asbestos’.
ACOPL143 further stated that ‘In addition to the asbestos awareness, those employees whose work will knowingly disturb asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), and which is defined as non-licensable work, should receive additional task-specific information, instruction and training. They also need to have annual refresher training’.
A recent CITB report ‘Training and skills in the construction industry’ stated that people are often too busy to receive training and many courses are not very accessible. However, things are changing. This April, the Department of Education launched a series of online courses for the benefit of employees working from home or furloughed. Online training has rapidly become a very useful tool to help people upskill.
CIRIA’s new CPD online learning course Non-licensed work on asbestos in soil provides essential training to enable people to work safely and competently without risk to themselves or others. Join us for this introductory session to learn how you could benefit from signing up for to online learning course.
