Non-destructive testing (NDT) of civil structures

If you missed the launch webinar for CIRIA guidance Non-destructive testing for civil structures (C798) earlier this year, join this pre-recorded webinar.

Background
Non-destructive testing (NDT) can be used to inform and support the management of structures across all stages of their lifecycle, from construction, through planned operation, to adaptation and re-purposing or decommissioning/demolition. It provides an opportunity to confirm that they have been constructed in accordance with their design and specification, and to detect and understand the severity and extent of defects while in service.

In combination with other sources of data it can be used in the processes that safely and efficiently manage structural assets. And yet, for a variety of reasons, the full potential of NDT in civil engineering is yet to be realised. The aim of the new guide Non-destructive testing of civil structures (C798) is to improve this situation by supporting a better-informed, and therefore more successful, application of NDT techniques within the sector. This highly anticipated guidance is available from CIRIA's bookshop.

Why attend
  • Gain insight from the project team as they provide an overview of the guide and its findings.
  • Learn why the new guidance is essential to the civil structures industry.
  • Hear how NDT can be used to aid in the safe and efficient management of structures and how it is commonly applied in industry.
  • Earn valuable CPD.
Who should attend
The target audience includes asset owners, engineers and other stakeholders involved in the lifecycle of civil engineering infrastructure assets, particularly those responsible for planning, design, construction, management, operations and maintenance.

In particular, the event will be useful to those with some knowledge about civil engineering assets who seek to better-understand how NDT can be used in the process of creating, managing and maintaining such assets, and to provide a level of background knowledge that helps them to engage and communicate with NDT specialists effectively.
