UXO through the construction cycle
This event will examine how UXO should be considered at different stages of the construction process.
Background
Military activity has influenced and affected large areas of the UK. Activity can range from historic and modern training of British or Allied forces, to aerial bombing from the two World Wars. Historic military activities also include formal and informal area denial measures and tipping or abandonment of ordnance items post conflict or ahead of land transfer.
Although there are no official records of the number of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) incidents in UK, there have been a number of incidents where construction workers and members of the public have been injured due to partial functioning of UXO.
