New guidance cracks the Eurocode for concrete industry 

CIRIA's new Eurocode compliant guide Control of cracking caused by restrained deformation in concrete (C766) provides a method for estimating the magnitude of crack-inducing strain and the risk of cracking at both early age and over the long term. 
  
The guide is aimed at designers and contractors to help them understand why early age cracking occurs, recognise the influencing factors, and understand when cracking is most likely.
  
Derek Winsor, Divisional Director, Metros & Civil Division, Mott MacDonald and member of the project steering group said "This latest version of the guidance on controlling cracking resulting from concrete restraint provides a clearer understanding of the issues and sound advice to designers. In assessing the impact of CIRIA C766 on a live major project, which is sensitive to crack control to limit seepage, results have demonstrated that significant economies are possible. This is good news for the industry."
