PFAS in soil and water

Join us for a virtual conference on polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to discover the latest developments and practical solutions in risk assessment and remediation in the UK.

Background
Awareness of known and potential risks to human health and the environment caused by PFAS is growing globally. Here in Europe, five countries have declared that by July 2022 they will propose to the European Chemicals Agency to restrict PFAS under REACH legislation.

The introduction of more stringent standards, including the recently reviewed Drinking Water Directive, underscores the need for the construction industry to find better ways to manage risk from PFAS in soil and ground water. New guidance to support organisations is emerging such as the recent report published by UK Water Industry Research ‘PFAS and wastewater – prevalence, reduction options and cost’.

This conference will focus on the latest developments in risk assessment and remediation of PFAS in soil and water, and will share the initial findings of CIRIA’s project to produce the UK’s first comprehensive guidance on PFAS in soil and ground water.
