Susdrain SuDS awards 2020 winners' case study showcase pt. 2

Our second bi-annual susdrain SuDS Awards were held online this year. This event previewed outstanding projects across the UK and announced our SuDS Champion of 2020. Join us to hear more from the winners as they discuss their projects in more detail.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Background

The susdrain SuDS Awards 2020 celebrated exceptional SuDS delivery, and gave due recognition to a SuDS Champion who is instrumental in delivering exceptional SuDS.

The Awards provide a platform to share the best SuDS that have been implemented over the last four years, recognising high-quality planning, design, construction and maintenance of sustainable drainage. During the awards, finalists showcased the key elements of their schemes. This is a unique opportunity to get the inside track on the winning projects with in-depth case studies presented by the teams involved.

This second of two webinars showcases two of the winning projects about which the judges commented:

The Water Gardens, London – winner in the retrofit small scale category
‘We should celebrate the special, this is a beautiful scheme with quality thinking’.
‘This scheme shows design excellence and rediscovery of old techniques’.

Bertha Park, Perth – winner in the new build large scale category
‘Great master-planning, extensive and well-considered SuDS scheme’.
‘A holistic approach implemented well and providing amenity’.

SuDS are often implemented due to the ability of a single champion to inspire, inform and influence others to get on board, share good practice, and deliver SuDS. The susdrain SuDS Champion 2020 was voted for by the SuDS community and was presented to an individual who has demonstrably gone ‘the extra mile’ to deliver and encourage the uptake of SuDS.

Our SuDS Champion of 2020, George Warren from the Greater London Authority will talk about The London Strategic SuDS Pilot Study – a Thames RFCC and Thames Water funded project that looks to make the (business) case for small scale dispersed SuDS in urban areas.
