Evolution or Revolution - what does the future hold?
This November, CIRIA will mark its' 60th Anniversary. Join us as we consider the advances the industry has made since 1960 and what the future might hold.
Registration for this event is now closed
Background
This November CIRIA will mark its 60th Anniversary. Whilst no one can deny the pace of evolution within the industry over the last 60 years, our achievements and contribution towards industry improvement in that time are to be celebrated.
In the last six decades we have undertaken 1100+ research projects, produced 900+ publications and currently support 8 specialist interest groups. Examples of our ground breaking seminal guidance reports include Piling good practice series (1976-1980), Embedded retaining walls (1984), as well as industry tomes such as The Rock Manual (2007), The International Levee Handbook (2013), The SuDS Manual (2015) and most recently Abandoned Mine Workings Manual (2019).
Whilst current uncertainties following the Covid-19 pandemic and economic downturn has forced revolutionary changes to the way we work and live, coupled with BREXIT and the changing wider socio-economic, political and environmental factors, what does the future hold for the industry?
The announcement of the CLC Roadmap to Recovery strategy aims to drive the recovery of the construction and built environment sectors, and through them the wider UK economy. Many would argue that construction is at the cusp of a transformation.
