Digital strategy to digital reality
As the construction industry continues to transform and take up more technology based solutions, CIRIA is leading the way in providing industry with the right tools to harness these technologies. This member only exclusive event will showcase a number of technology focused projects showing how government strategy and industry drivers are delivering a digital reality for infrastructure delivery and asset management.
Background
Meeting the objectives of Construction 2025 calls for a rethink on approaches to construction. Being digitally enabled is at the heart of improved productivity for industry and a necessity for large infrastructure projects.
Asset management approaches are increasingly heavily reliant on technology during construction and throughout the design life to optimise maintenance and whole life (SMART Infrastructure). Aspects of this were covered in the the recent guidance Hidden defects in critical bridge component (C764) and CIRIA has now moved forward with several relevant projects and proposals, including: Asset Degradation modelling (RP1047), The use of unmanned aerial vehicles for infrastructure asset management (RP1063), Structural health monitoring systems for civil infrastructure (RP1066) and Non-Destructive Testing for civil structures (P3151).
