Background
The BIG Biodiversity Challenge is an initiative which aims to raise awareness of the need for biodiversity to become a key component within the construction and development industry, ensuring that it becomes an integrated part of planning and projects.

The challenge is now in its third year and has continued to grow exponentially. In its first year 50 organisations signed up with approx. 100 case studies submitted. In 2015 this figure grew to over 100 organisations pledging support, with over 200 case studies submitted. The dynamic nature of the industry is reflected in the eight award categories, which are focused on the core areas of infrastructure, urban development and mineral extraction.

The BIG Biodiversity Challenge awards ceremony aims to showcase the best biodiversity enhancements across construction and the wider built environment. The event will include a keynote speech from a leading environmentalist and the presentation of the eight award category winners and overall BIG Biodiversity Challenge winner for 2016.
