Culvert design and operation guide supplementary technical note on understanding blockage risks (C720)
While there is recognition that culverts present significant flood risks, there
have been few systematic investigations in the UK of blockage risk associated
with trash accumulation at culverts and other hydraulic structures. In response to this, the aim of the research presented here has been to advance the knowledge base regarding trash screen blockage and to develop simple tools and methods for assessing the risks associated with blockage at culverts.
