Tunnel management advances since C671 – good practice guidance (RP1139)

Tunnels: inspection, assessment and maintenance (C671) is widely used by tunnel asset owners, consultants and contractors around the world. It continues to be referenced and used to inform tunnel asset management plans, specifications and associated works. Since it was published new approaches have  become established as current practice due to extensive progress in global tunnelling design, renewal and assessment.

Key areas for development include:
Tunnel asset management – Development and use of tunnel asset information systems.
Tunnel renovation and renewals – Technological advances.
Condition appraisal – Automation of tunnel inspections, development of technology for data-driven condition appraisal.
Case Studies – Update to include new major projects and upgrade programmes.
Lessons learned to inform future design codes and standards.
