New supplementary guide to scour at bridges

CIRIA is pleased to announce the much awaited Manual on scour at bridges and other hydraulic structures – supplement (SP171) is available now.

With recent and larger flooding incidents and a number of scour failures including the structural failure of Lamington viaduct in 2015 as well as changes to asset management practices there was a need to update the Manual on scour at bridges and hydraulic structures (C742).

Amanda Kitchen, lead author, JBA Consulting (formerly Mott MacDonald) commented “The supplement to the Manual on scour at bridges and hydraulic structures (C742) presents the latest developments in scour risk management and draws on recent experience of major UK asset owners, practitioners and researchers. It provides a valuable update for anyone involved in the assessment or management of scour.”
