Celebrating SuDS excellence in 2021 - Introducing the #SuDSChampion and #SuDSRisingStar 

 

The 2021 susdrain SuDS Champion Awards reached their thrilling conclusion on 15 July 2021 with a virtual ceremony announcing the new 2021 SuDS Champion and the first SuDS Rising Star, voted for by the industry and a susdrain Special Award decided by susdrain’s Partners and Supporters.

Established and led by CIRIA through susdrain, the susdrain SuDS Champion Awards showcased and celebrated the SuDS professionals that go the extra mile to inspire, inform, and influence others to get on board, share good practice, and deliver high quality SuDS schemes across the UK. This year the awards was split into two categories, recognising both experienced SuDS professionals and the up and coming ‘Rising Stars’ of the SuDS world.

Winning the public poll, We're pleased to announce our 2021 SuDS Champion is Julie Wadron, Senior Planning Officer, Water and Environment, City of Edinburgh Council and our first SuDS Rising Star is Saira Ali, Team Leader, Landscape Design and Conservation Team, City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and we awarded a susdrain Special Prize to Paul Shaffer, Director of Innovation and Delivery, CIWEM for his success throughout the years in encouraging high quality SuDS delivery.

Louise Walker, Senior Project Manager at CIRIA said: "I would like to thank everyone involved for making this year's SuDS Champions Awards such a special event. It was great to hear from our past winners about what the award has meant to them; from experienced professionals about what motivates them, and from our rising stars about what is current in the world of SuDS. The awards emphasised how much passion and dedication exists amongst the growing SuDS community."
