BIG Biodiversity Challenge and Awards 2019

CIRIA is pleased to announce that the BIG Biodiversity Challenge 2019 was officially launched on 27 February at an event hosted by AECOM in London. Led by CIRIA’s Biodiversity Interest Group, the challenge invites the construction industry to add biodiversity enhancements to construction sites, developments or existing buildings, regardless of size, and whether permanent or temporary.

The launch event brought together clients, consultants, contractors, house builders, ecologists, landscape architects as well some of our 2018 award winners who outlined their winning projects, highlighting how any biodiversity enhancement, big or small, does make a BIG difference.

Getting involved is easy. Simply choose an award category and enter the challenge, sponsor an award category or join us on social media @bigbiodiversity #BIGAwards #DoOneThing.

With eight award categories on offer, there is plenty of scope to submit entries and it’s free to enter. And that’s not all, anyone entering the challenge can also provide nominations for the 2019 BIG Biodiversity Champion. Details of all awards categories can be found at www.bigchallenge.info.

Louise Clarke, Head of Sustainable Places, Berkeley Group commented “The BIG Biodiversity Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the great work that the industry is doing to improve biodiversity. The awards provide a platform for a project of any size to enter and each year it improves our understanding of the diversity of projects that are making a difference and are really enhancing biodiversity.”

CIRIA is thrilled to announce the 2019 sponsors for the #BIGAwards are Grosvenor, Heathrow, Kier, and Sir Robert McAlpine.
