Construction’s race to net zero: fact of fiction?

We are thrilled to announce this year’s virtual Annual Debate Construction’s race to net zero: fact or fiction will be hosted on 9 June. The event will bring together industry experts to consider how the built environment sector is rising to achieve the net zero challenge.

With construction accounting for 30% of carbon emissions in the UK, we are set to debate how will the sector play its part and reduce emissions by 68% below 1990 levels in the next decade to meet the UK’s ambitious new climate target? Sponsored by Marshalls, this is a must attend event for those concerned about climate change impacts in construction.

Our panellists will consider:
whether the construction industry needs to undertake more extreme measures to reduce emissions
how the construction ecosystem is collaborating to reduce its carbon footprint
how policy is driving and effecting change
if the industry will be able to achieve net zero carbon and business goals.

Sam Stacey, Challenge Director – Transforming Construction, Innovate UK commented “Winning the race to net zero is a tough challenge, but the UK has the raw potential and with the right strategy can succeed. Just like an athlete preparing for the Olympics, the strategy will require belief, dedication, planning and flexibility. I look forward to debating how we bring all this together on 9 June.”
