Introduction to The Rock Manual

Background

In 1991 CIRIA/CUR produced the Manual on the use of rock in coastal and shoreline engineering, commonly referred to as “The Rock Manual” (CIRIA, 1991). Since the publication of this and other reference texts significant research has been carried out to improve understanding of rock behaviour and to determine improved practices for hydraulic engineering. Consequently, a new manual has been developed to bring the earlier publications up to date and has been given a broader scope that increases the focus on environmental and sustainability concerns.

To accompany the publication CIRIA has developed a training course 'Introduction to The Rock Manual'

This course focuses on the new Rock Manual and how to use it. The course has been specially prepared by a partnership of the authors and will help you learn everything you need to know about rock in coastal and river engineering.

Course attendees will receive a free copy of The Rock manual (C683)
