Mapping carbon initiatives (RP920)

There is considerable interest and activity on the broad topic of climate change mitigation - increasingly referred to as the carbon agenda. While there is real progress being made in some quarters, many are finding it difficult to keep up with the sheer volume of activities that are underway.
The aim of this project is to develop a simple web-based database that signposts carbon and energy-related initiatives relevant to the built environment.

Information about initiatives is being collected and will be displayed in a consistent format. This was developed in consultation with a number of industry organisations and professional institutions with the following aims: 

• it can be used by the widest possible range of stakeholders to describe and map their initiatives
• it can be used by others to identify groups active in a particular topic
• it is sufficiently detailed to be of value to those interrogating the site, but not over-burdensome for those providing information about the initiative
• data is being collected, with a view to publishing an initial dataset in October 2009.

Data input is presently via an on-line questionnaire (see below).
