European Marine Sand and Gravel Group - EMSAGG (RP750)

EMSAGG is an international group made up of organisations spanning an area of interest from the Atlantic to the Baltic. Membership of the group includes national governments, regulators, dredging and aggregate companies, conservation bodies, academics and research institutions.
EMSAGG was formed in 1998 after research work looking at marine sand and gravel in NW Europe identified the need for international collaboration in the study of issues that effect marine sand and gravel extraction in the study area.

The group was established on a not-for-profit basis with CIRIA acting as secretariat to coordinate meetings and produce the group’s bulletin. The group meets twice a year to share information and to discuss its research objectives.

EMSAGG bulletin

The EMSAGG bulletins provide information pertinent to the marine sand and gravel industry within Europe on the following subjects:

Issue 11 of the EMSAGG Bulletin was published in August 2005, providing readers with an insight into the tyre structures at the Pevensey coast sea defences and covers TNO's sandwave analysis. Visit the EMSAGG website to download the latest issue of the EMSAGG bulletin and the conference special edition.

EMSAGG meetings

EMSAGG held its 18th meeting at PGI's offices in Gdańsk, Poland on 11 September 2006. The group discussed the various options for European funding and forwarded conference activities. Current and future research was discussed and a presentation was given by PGI of current work in Poland.

EMSAGG conference

EMSAGG's second conference - Reeling in the experts, took place on 20-21 February 2006. Conference proceedings and a list of downloadable papers are now available from the EMSAGG website.
