Policy makers and regulators

Informal engagement with the industry
CIRIA’s strong and diverse Member base makes it an ideal forum for consultation and communication for policy makers and regulators.

Whether you are responsible for the development of policy, the formulation of regulations, or of simply promoting a government-backed vision, CIRIA can provide a valuable vehicle.

Early consultation on proposals
Regulators often discuss problem areas with industry to gain a valuable insight into the issues it faces, and promote research to identify best practices in problem areas.

Promote policy and regulatory messages
CIRIA’s inclusive and consultative approach is favoured by a number of regulators who see CIRIA publications as reflecting both the regulators aspirations and the industry’s pragmatism and an excellent way of getting ideas taken up by the industry.

Influence the adoption of better, safer, cleaner practices
Building and civil engineering contracts face significant risks in terms of regulatory compliance – health and safety and environment being just two key areas.

CIRIA guidance is produced with the active involvement of the industry and regulators on topics where our Members advise us there are problem areas.

By providing a forum where clients, consultants, contractors, regulators and others come together, CIRIA’s network also provides an excellent method of anticipating and helping to resolve issues with new ways of procurement and new ways of working.
