Occasional clients

Many public and private sector organisations will have the need to commission some form of facility, whether a building extension, a new office, factory or other facility.

Defining your requirements
The effectiveness of your facilities will have a direct bearing on your organisation’s performance, and your procurement decisions will have effects that will last decades.

Understand different procurement options
Often, teams or individuals are required to procure construction in cases where there is no recent or prior experience in the team or, indeed, in the organisation.

CIRIA has produced a number of guides aimed at occasional clients. It also runs regular workshops that will look at procurement practices and consider what responsible clients can do to ensure they procure sustainable facilities suited for their immediate and less certain longer-term needs.
