The problem

Under the various current contaminated land regulatory regimes, different parties involved in the management of purchasing, redeveloping, insuring and remediation of contaminated land all have varying levels of knowledge, responsibilities and expectations for how the process should be completed. The UK framework for managing contaminated land is similarly varied depending on the stakeholder role or financial, liability and regulatory driver. The variation in operational, regulatory and stakeholder expectations is often one of the most difficult aspects to manage when implementing a contaminated land project.

A solution

This workshop is designed for local authorities and other construction professionals involved in
contaminated land project management. It will comprise of a series of presentations that will take delegates through the contaminated land project management process and give delegates the opportunity to apply knowledge gained through a short group exercise.

Setting out the context of contaminated land project management with the UK, with a focus on managing the processes and the differences between the various regulatory regimes and stakeholder roles

Identification and discussion of the various procurement processes that can be utilised for the successful delivery of contaminated land projects

The module will cover training on the need for, and how to, effectively manage consultant contracts and information provision

Health and Safety - Construction (Design & Management (CDM) Regulations
This module will include a description of the applicable health & safety aspects that relate to contaminated land projects, in addition to the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders. The discussion will include a particular focus on the 2007 CDM Regulations

Cancellations

Any booking fee paid will not be refunded unless written confirmation is received at least five working days prior to the event, substitute delegates are welcome.

CIRIA reserves the right to vary the programme and cancel the event in case of insufficient bookings.
