Safer Surfaces to Walk On

In January 2006 CIRIA published two reports:

Safer surfaces to walk on reducing the risks of slipping (C652)

Safer surfaces to walk on: reducing the risks of slipping: an introduction (SP165)

These publications were the deliverables from CIRIA Research Project RP713. The major funder for RP713 was the HSE, with funding partners RSSB, LUL(TfL), Department of Health, BCSC, Tubelines and Metronet. The Research Contractor was Arup and the work drew heavily upon the expertise of the HSL.

It is the intention of all these partners to continue working together over the next three years to improve the existing guidance – particularly with respect to trips (where more basic research is needed to improve the existing knowledge-base) – but also to incorporate new knowledge on slips.
