Getting ready for new CDM Regulations

The new CDM Regulations came into force on 7 April 2007. To refelct the various updates and changes, CIRIA has published new CDM 2007 guidance and is running a series of training events.

So, what’s new?

• The ‘Planning Supervisor’ will become a ‘CDM Coordinator’ for the project.
• The clients’ role is to become even more centre-stage.
• The new regulations replace not only the old 1994 CDM Regulations but also the Construction (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996.
• The new Regulations aim to simplify and clarify what duty holders need to do, so that they can easily identify and understand their role.

CDM2007 training

a series of one-day courses will examine the duties of the designer in the light of CDM2007 and will also explain the requirement for consideration of workplace ‘in-use’ risks.
