Description: Helpful information for engineers faced with assessing the effects of piling or similar works. Ground-borne vibrations from piling can disturb neighbours and damage nearby property. This book contains guidance about the nature of these vibrations and how they are propagated. It summarises recommended procedures for assessing and minimising nuisance, for controlling and monitoring vibrations, and for carrying out and reporting studies of ground-borne vibrations arising from piling. The book results from a survey of 150 case studies of piling and similar activities, and a desk study assessment of available knowledge of perception and damage criteria.
