Description: Recently published guidance, Improving the flood performance of new buildings: flood resilient construction, produced by a consortium led by CIRIA and funded by CLG, Defra and the Environment Agency; outlines approaches for new build housing. This seminar covered wider aspects of flood resistance and resilience relating to the built environment and future development; including risk strategy, site planning and sustainable drainage.
The event was of particular interest to consultants, developers, designers and local authorities with projects in flood risk areas. Delegates gained much from this event, including:
a greater understanding of the approach to flood risk management outlined in PPS 25
an appreciation of the range of responses to managing residual risk
an opportunity to benefit from the experience of UK policymakers and sector experts
