Description: A common headache for any project manager is the need to keep good project information. But keeping track of the paperwork can be a headache. Since the introduction of e-mail and collaborative working, the process is moving towards a paperless environment. But when dealing with drawings and a variety of contracts will a truly paperless project ever be achieved?
How big can an e-mail grow? Potentially an e-mail can replicate itself many times as it is forwarded and replied to over and over again. How can any member of the project team be sure they are using the latest version of the specifications?
A lot of the problems come from the transient nature of project teams, with the team moving onto the next fee earning project once a project has been completed.
Project Information Management Archiving (PIMA) aims to tackle these issues, by taking the experiences of members and various industry initiatives, to produce technology independent best practice guidance. This workshop sought to build upon the knowledge base already identified and to share gained experience and knowledge whilst also becoming a mediatory force to implement change.
